词典

先看看词典怎么说

Scenery [U] is the general appearance of part of the country, considered from the point of view of beauty(国家某部分从美景的观点出发的一般外貌): We passed through some beautiful scenery on our journey through the Lake District.

A landscape [C] is any combination of hills, valleys, fields etc, seen in a particular area(在某个特别区域看到的小山,山谷,田地等的组合): The landscape was typical of the Lake District, with high mountains, lakes, and deep valleys.

辨析

When people describe the outdoors they sometimes use landscape and scenery incorrectly.

当形容户外景色时,我们经常误用landscapescenery。

We use the word landscape to talk about the view or a large expanse of a particular area and how it is arranged or positioned.

我们使用landscape来描述一大块特别的区域,以及它的内部是如何安排的,或它是座落在哪里的。

We can also use the term urban landscape to talk about the same thing but of an urban scene.

我们也用词组urban landscape来描述城市景象。

  • I took many pictures of the landscape of the Lake District.

  • Old buildings dominated the landscape.

  • New Zealand has such a varied landscape.

When we want to talk about the natural features of a particular area that we can see, we use the word scenery. Scenery is normally natural beauty.

当我们想谈论一个我们能看到的特别区域的自然特征时,我们使用scenery。Scenery一般是指自然美景。

  • The scenery was absolutely beautiful.

You will almost never hear scenery used in a negative way.

我们一般绝不会听到scenery用在否定语气中。

  • The scenery was ugly.(Never use it!!!)

Landscape is a countable noun (usually singular)

Landscape是可数名词(一般是单数)

Scenery is an uncountable noun

Scenery是不可数名词

词源

Landscape于1600年进入英语,直接源自荷兰语的landschap,意为地区。

Scenery与Scene同源,来源于希腊语 skene (表演戏曲的棚位或摊位)。

Scenery of a Stage

Scenery also has another meaning. It is the painted background of a stage (where a play is performed).

Scenery也有其它 的含义。就是舞台的喷涂背景(stage是指表演的场地)

Scenery vs Nature

A common mistake is to use nature in place of scenery.

一个常见错误是在需要用scenery的地方用nature。

We only use the word nature to talk about the general world of animals and plants in their natural form.

我们只在谈论动植物世界的自然形态时使用nature

  • I love watching nature documentaries on the TV

总结

  1. landscape指户外景色,但里面可能有人工加工的成分,我们强调它的布局。

  2. scenery指“总体的、全部的风景”,表示的是室外的、天然的美景; 指“布景”时,是室内的,表示的是整个舞台的布置。
