    This morning, I got up early to go to the market with my mother. Mother said that I have grown up and I must learn to cook. Buying foods in the market is the first step because good sources are important. When we got to the market, there were many people. Mother chose our foods and told me how to choose good ones. Besides, I must learn how to bargain with sellers. Actually, it was not so easy, because the seller wants to sell a high price but buyers want to buy goods in low price. Finally, we bought vegetables, meet and fishes. I learned much but I think I still need to learn more. Next time, I’d like to go to the market with mother again.
    今天早上，我起得很早，和妈妈一起去菜市场。妈妈说我已经长大了，要学会煮饭，去菜市场购买食材是第一步，因为好的食材是很重要的。我们到市场的时候，那里已经有很多人了。妈妈一边选我们要买的菜，一边告诉我怎样选好的菜。另外，我也必须学会讲价。事实上，这并不容易，因为买家想卖高价钱而买家则想以低价购买。最后，我们买了一些蔬菜、肉和鱼。我学到了许多但我觉得要学习的依然很多。下次，我还想和妈妈一起去市场。

    The New Year is coming and I have good wishes for the coming year. Firstly, I hope my families will be happy and in good health. I want my father has more free time to company my mother and I. I don’t want him work so hard all the time. Secondly, I wish myself can have a good year and do well in my study. Study is my priority now and I hope I can work hard and make progress. Finally, I want a new computer for my study and enjoyment. As I learn more in school, a computer is necessary. When I am free, I want to play computer games or search the Internet. I think my father would buy it for me. What are your wishes for next year?
    新年就要到了，我对来年有着美好的愿望。首先，我希望家人健康快乐，希望爸爸能有更多的时间陪我和妈妈，不要总是工作。其次，我希望自己来年顺利，成绩优异。学习是我现在最总要的事，我希望自己能努力学习，有所进步。最后，我想要一台新电脑，用于学习和娱乐。在学校学的东西越来越多，电脑是很有必要的。我空闲的时候，我想玩玩游戏或者上上网。我的爸爸应该会买给我。你来年的愿望又是什么呢？

篇十八：火锅 Hot Pot

    Do you know what dish is the most popular in the cold winter in China? I know it’s hot pot. Hot pot is a Chinese tasteful folk dish. No matter in the north or in the south, people like hot pot very much and every region has its local features. For example, Sihuan hot pot is hot while Guangdong hot pot is famous for its fresh. Usually, there is a metal hot pot in the middle of table. When the soup in the pot is kept simmering, dishes are put into the pot. Beef, mutton, fish and vegetables are the main dishes. It is extremely popular in winter because it can keep the dishes warm all the time. And the atmosphere is hot, too. Friends or relatives sit down together to have a feast. It’s a good way to relax.
    在我国，你知道冬天什么食物最受欢迎吗？我知道是火锅。火锅是我国的民间美食，不管是北方还是南方，人们都爱吃火锅，而每个地方的火锅也有自身的地域特点。比如，四川火锅是辣的而广东的火锅则以味道鲜美著称。通常来说，吃火锅时，会在桌子的中间放一个金属锅，当锅里的汤料沸腾时，就可以把菜放到火锅里了。牛肉、羊肉、鱼和蔬菜都是火锅的主要食材。火锅在冬天大受欢迎是因为它能一直保持热度，并且吃火锅的气氛很热烈，亲人朋友团座一桌，享受大餐，这是一种很放松的就餐方式。
